| Sounds! | |
There are three lines in the Timeline view. The top line is the video, the other two are for audio. By default the sounds recorded by the camcorder appear on the second line.
To separate the audio from the video, select the clip, click on Advanced and pull down to Extract Audio. This will allow you to change what sound is going to happen when. Be VERY careful with this. It is very easy to get out of sync and it is not that easy to get it back.
The little push pin icons tell you that the audio is still "pinned" to the video, but that you can now move it if you dare. |
Some fun stock sound effects are available by clicking on the Audio button, then the scroll down menu.___
Which brings up this list of fun noises. |
---Sounds can placed on either of the audio tracks. Here the "Jet Fly By" has been dropped onto track 1. If there was any audio from the camcorder linked there it would not have stuck on the track. -o on to 4. Background Music |

On the right end of each line is a little box, in this case with a check mark in it. That tells you that that function is enabled, viewable and editable. The audio that comes with each clip does not appear differentiated in the second line until you've extracted the audio.
