Personal Statement
I
was raised in between Chicago and Oakland and all the
things that come with that. My entire life has
been dedicated to producing something positive for the
inner city. I do what I do because the successful
men that we had to look up to did one of three things in
my neighborhood: (1) played ball, (2) rapped, or (3)
sold drugs. It is important for the kids in those
neighborhoods to see someone professional in something
other than what I just listed.
I
was a social worker for 4 years before becoming an
Education Coordinator in Oakland with a nonprofit
organization. This program has helped me develop
my management skills and understand how to properly run
a nonprofit organization. I hope to continue doing
good work in the inner city and I am confident that my
MPA will really help out with that.
