Presentation Skills

Public administrators must not only know how to communicate in writing, but also possess the ability to clearly communicate through presentations.  The MPA program ensured these skills were honed through a variety of course presentations. Two such presentations demonstrate this skill.

The first discusses the Caltrain budget proposal for FY2009. The paper discusses budget background, relevant principles of the agency and examination of a set of analyses used in the budget preparation. 

The second example examines California’s state-wide transportation initiative to implement high-speed rail.  This policy brief examines the policy background, financing scheme, and political feasibility of this major public works initiative.
