Description:

Intended for biology majors. Physical characteristics of oceans; biology of plankton and benthos, emphasizing production and food webs. Identification, sampling, and productivity measurements of marine organisms. Classwork, two units; laboratory and field work, one unit. Prerequisites: BIOL 230, 240.

    • Access USGS San Francisco Bay and Delta - contains water flow data, wetlands projects, water quality data, biology projects, urban growth projects, and digital maps.
    • USGS Water Quality of San Francisco Bay - contains long-term water quality data, including chlorophyll, temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and suspended solids.
    • SFPORTS - San Francisco Physical Oceanographic Real-Time System containing wind, tide, and current data.
