Professional Experience (cont.)

1996-current                  San Francisco State Univ        San Francisco, CA

Research Technician II at the Romberg Tiburon Center for Environmental Studies.  Chief technician for multiple oceanic and estuarine fish and zooplankton research projects.

2000-current                Romberg Tiburon Center, SFSU             Tiburon, CA

Caretaker on site. Provided security and emergency relief for the remote field campus on a daily basis.

1999-current                             Self Employ                             Tiburon, CA

Zooplankton consultant providing zooplankton sample analyses for various clients with environmental projects including the National Park Service, Tomales Bay, CA, Sonoma County Water District, Sonoma, CA,  Hydroikos Associates, San Rafael, CA, and US National Park Service, Tomales Bay, CA.

2002               California State University, Stanislaus              Lone Pine, CA

Field technician for the Endangered Species Research Program, performing trap, mark and release studies on small mammals including the endangered Mojave ground squirrel.

1995         Univ. Washington Friday Harbor Laboratories   Friday Harbor, WA

Research assistant for Dr. Peter Jumars.  Performed multiple experiments in the ground truthing of low-angle acoustic backscatter as an indicator of benthic biological activity.   Used SCUBA  to perform experiements in West Sound, Orcas Island, WA, USA.

1995         Univ. Washington Friday Harbor Laboratories   Friday Harbor, WA       Research assistant for Dr. Todd Anderson.  Conducted rockfish (Sebastes spp.) recruitment surveys using SCUBA in natural and artificial kelp environments as well as preparing and placing artificial substrates.

1995         Univ. Washington Friday Harbor Laboratories      Friday Harbor, WA       Research assistant for Dr. David Duggins.  Inspected, cleaned and sampled experimental kelp growth sites and provided assistance as necessary using SCUBA. This project was designed to study long-term kelp growth in a variety of current conditions.

1994                  Univ. Washington Fisheries Research Inst.            Seattle, WA       Research assistant for Dr. Deanna Stouder and Jeff Cordell.  As part of the Wetlands Ecosystem Team, Department of Fisheries, University of Washington, studied the abundance of foods in mudflats for juvenile salmonids in Spartina spp. patches in Willapa Bay, WA.  Manufactured, deployed, and recovered estuarine fish traps to assess the population of small estuarine fishes.
