Art “I know me”: Image Generation Aiming at EEG Control by Biofeedback
• Etsuo Genda and Kosuke Matsunaga
• “I know me” is an interactive artwork that produces
images based on EEG measurements from human participants. Although
artists have previously made some interactive image works, we
considered using human physiological information as input because it
reflects human feelings better.
BRAINWAVE:
Common Senses February 16- April 19, 2008
• BRAINWAVE: Common Senses responds to current
advancements in neurological research by visualizing and investigating
the brain’s capacity for sense perception, memory, emotion and logic.
Nita
Sturiale “Thoughtflow”
• Visitors to the festival were asked to think about
the question, "How does thoughtflow like a river?" As they thought, an
electroencephelograph was recorded of the participants' brain
electrical activity via electrodes placed on the forehead.
Jonny Bradley and Bruce
Gilchrist Thought Conductor
• Thought Conductor was inspired by the notion: what
could have occupied the mind of the musician David Tudor when he
performed John Cage's silent composition 4'33"? In reality he would
have been preoccupied with keeping track of time, but this led to the
idea of a musical performance where musicians are responding not to an
arranged score, but instead to a direct manifestation of a conductor's
thought processes on stage.
NeuroSky
• Neurons that comprise the brain work on electrical
impulses known as brainwaves. The last century of neurological research
has demonstrated that brainwaves of different wavelengths can be
indicative of unique emotional and mental states, like a focused
awareness, a meditative state, or drowsiness. Brainwaves have been used
in medical research and therapy for years. NeuroSky is introducing it
to the consumer world.
Emotiv EPOC
• Our mission is to create the ultimate interface for
the next-generation of human-machine interaction, by evolving the
interaction between humans and electronic devices beyond the
limitations of conscious interface. Emotiv has created technologies
that allow machines to take both conscious and non-conscious inputs
directly from your mind.
