I chose 2 web art from Rhizome website.
Triptych http://rhizome.org/artbase/36533/tripty by Peter Horvath and
Eternal Sunset http://www.eternalsunset.net I think both sites have
very simple wed design but have strong ideas about art works. I like
the idea of motion, stillness, and resistance because there are
happening anywhere, any one. Silence of the video made me focus on only
the visual. I chose Eternal Sunset because the idea of following the
sunset meet cross cultural context so that people can see sunset all
over the world. I chose this website from yahoo's best site. This site

best site when you are surfing web for your paper or work and when you
stuck forthe ideas, it will give you a relief. This site is made by
people's contribution, so you can also join too, and share your cute
relief in this stressful world!

becasue I like the idea of this web page. You can see the beautiful
sunset from anywhere.I also like the idea of the contribution in this
web site.If somebody has a great picture of the sunset,the person can
contribute this web site. That idea make this web site a good
interactive web site. I think this web visual Appeal is very strong and
clear. Information Design and Naviagation are both pretty simple, so
it's easy to enjoy it. I think if the web uses real time webcamra, this
web site will be more effective. Generally, I like this kind of simple
web site. TRIPTYCH: I chose this site because I like the unique idea
that are Motion and Stillness. Visual appeal is very interesting to see
it at once. The information & structure of the web site is very
clear. It's easy to recognaize the difference of the motion and

Email
Erosion
This one is from Rhizome. The sculpture was
created out of biodegradable, starch-based foam each time someone sends
an email or spam. Depending on the subject of the email, the mechanism,
eroder, would either turn around the foam or sprayed it with the water.
I thought the idea was out there, but apparently it's not working at
the moment. I sent an email, but reply was that the eroder is currently
out of service. Nevertheless, there is archived footage in the "browse
email's" section, in which they did a simple but nice design. They used
Flash for this, but I don't think was necessary, except for the short
trailer that they have at the main page. In terms of conceptual-info
arts, I thought that this site had the idea and the message. It made me
wander about the connection of our endless emails and erosion. Erosion
of the things that we create in our everyday conversations through
various media.

Sunshine. I find the piece quite interesting because it really shrinks
down the globe. You are able to see the sunset continuously across the
globe alowing the viewer to experience things they might never get a
chance to do normally.

Fallen Fruit
This offers an alternative route for the
public
to take instead of eatting at the typical fast food joint. Impowering
the communities to find alternative sources of food by providing mapped
out areas of fruit trees or veggitation that grows on public grounds.
The sight is well designed, lots of interesting visuals with a simple
navagational interface. A simple site with powerful ideas.

I chose a website featured on both the Ars
Electronica and Rhizome websites. The GWEI website is simple and easy
to navigate yet features a complex social commentary. Best of all, it
is interactive, allowing the people to be a part of the mechanism that
they developed. I especially like their prediction of the future and
the manner in which is was presented -- very realistic...I could have
sworn that it really happened! But that's the point. The site is
entertaining but really makes you think about the way in which society
works.

This is certainly not traditional web art,
but
i find it hysterical. It is a site full of animated cartoons that are
cute, cuddley and completely sick and twisted(kind of like me). Every
episode follows these cute little creatures that meet horrific and
bloody deaths. Not for the weak stomached, but always good for a laugh.

My pick for the best site is from Yahoo's

Index. The Traveler's Lunchbox is a blog site about the what to eat
before you die. People contribute by listing the foods they think
everyone should eat before they die. Some of them have pictures and
most of them tell you where to get the food. For someone who loves to
eat, such as myself, this site rocks. Best of all, it is comprised of
opinions of regular people, not food critics! Plus the site is very
simple and easy to navigate.

Just because it is served at an expensive
restaurant, it doesn`t mean that food is more excellent than the free
food or fruit from the tree or vegetable from the garbage. People
sometimes eat food just to make stomach full, but real good food
involves the atmosphere while you are eating, I believe. I mean, you
can eat whatever you can see as long as you have a strong spice like
curry powder, but you can`t eat anything if you are depressed. Just
like fruit takes time to become an eatable fruit, time for cooking,
eating with people is kind of important. and cozy chair and cheers as
well.

Signature Maker
Even though the site did not work on my
computer, I found the iTunes Signature Maker to be to strongest
conceptual piece. My only criticism of the piece is that the
underlining method for the analysis and creation of the "short sonic
remixes" needs to be more transparent. Additionally, the description of
the piece is misleading considering that the remix is of a sample set
of the songs in the library, not the entire library.

I really loved this piece. It generates
approximately a 33 sec sound clip from your itunes library. you are
able to set parameters on nuber of songs it chooses, duration of sound
clips and how it selects the tracks. I find this particularly
interesting because it reveals your subconscience musical taste. I
chose for the generator to select songs that i play most often, and was
surprised by some of the songs that were selected.

one of its theme `resist` catch my eyes
because
I always try not to resist anything. But then I realized that
stillness, resistance, and motion are all strongly connected, and all
of them are kind of existing together, but not independently. In other
words, there is no resistance unless there is motion and stillness. To
say more, I really like the videos, especially the resistance. Somehow
I felt like I have been in a similar situations.

shadow theatre. It tells about its history, music, charactors and more.
Since shadow theatre has been existing all over the world, its history
is already mixed up with many cultures, and it is pretty interesting.
For example, they used to use the Egyptian cotton to create their
puppet. Their folk stories were originated from Arabic shamanistic
rites.
