Personal Statement

"People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates."
- Thomas Szasz -
During my undergraduate studies at University of California, Berkeley, I took on a part-time job as an administrative assistant at the Haas School of Business and fell in love with my work. I enjoyed the interactions with professors, students, and staff and loved the challenge to successfully coordinate an academic function from beginning to end. I especially love the value that I am working for a school, a public organization, and not just for any corporate-giant.
In May 2003, I obtained my bachelor’s degree and began working as an Administrative & Research Service Analyst at the University of California Energy Institute. For the past years, I have initiated and developed research & administrative operations and performed policy analysis to fulfill the needs of our research unit. Some of these operations include reviewing personnel issues, managing funds, updating security standards for databases, and monitoring needs of space planning and reorganization. My job not only provided an opportunity to learn the in-depth knowledge on university policies, it enforces my interest to serve for a non-profit organization.
Currently, I am the Department Administrator at the UC Energy Institute and I would like to continue my career, particularly in the area of Research & Development.
