Shoulder Joint - Frontal View

The shoulder joint (also known as the glenohumeral joint) is a ball and socket joint.

The humerous, scapula, and clavicle bones comprise the shoulder joint.

The joint is formed by the articulation between the head of the humerous and the glenoid fossa of the scapula.

Acromion Process of Scapula

The two landmarks used to approximate the center of rotation for the shoulder joint is the acromion process of the scapula and the greater tubercle of the humerous.

The shoulder joint center is located approximately 5 cm below the top of the acromion process and behind the greater tubercle.
