George Hincape - SF Gran Prix Human Movement Analysis - Estimating Joint Centers of Rotation
Introduction

Introduction

Hip Joint - Frontal View

Video is used extensively in the field of Kinesiology to capture and analyze human movement. From a video analysis, we can glean qualitative and quantitative information about the movement.

During the semester, you will be perform a 2 - D qualitative video analysis. You will work in teams on this project. As a group, you will decide on a particular movement, research the movement, and film it. You will then analyze the video and report your findings.

As part of preparation for filming, you will be estimating and marking the center of rotation for joints commonly analyzed. These joints are: the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle. Markers are also typically placed at the head of the fifth metatarsal and near the heel (or calcaneous) to demarcate the foot.
