Research Interests:

 

Materials chemistry. My primary research focus is on developing applications of alkali metal-doped pure silica zeolites. These novel materials have significant chemical reactivity and intriguing magnetic and electro-optic properties. These materials may find use in organic synthesis, the preparation of atomic clusters and nanoparticles to be used in catalysis, and in the design of chemical sensors and near-infrared photodetectors.

 

Magnetic resonance. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and electron-nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) spectroscopy is one of my core areas of expertise. I apply EPR and ENDOR to a broad range of systems, from dilute species in solutions or single crystals, such as, organic radicals or transition metal ions, to solid state materials, such as, conductors and magnetic materials.

 

Computational chemistry. Currently, my efforts have been directed at elucidating the electronic structure of small clusters of alkali metals and alkali metal anions, especially cesium and ceside (Cs-) dimers, trimers, and higher order clusters.
