Welcome Back! Here is our event calendar for the Spring Semester 2005. More events may be added, but this should provide an overview of the different opportunities for involvement this semester! February 4th Friday- Welcome Back Party! Please join us at the Canvas Cafe on 9th and Lincoln for a glass of
wine or a cup of coffee! We will be gathering around 5:30 and look forward to seeing
you there!

February 7th Monday- Opportunity to meet one of the candidates for the new professor position in the
Comparative Literature department! Please join us from 3:15 to 3:45pm at the
Trapp Library.

February 9th Wednesday- Training Meeting for students interesting in being readers for Portals. This is a
great opportunity to get involved with our journal Portals! Many readers will be
needed since we were flooded with submissions this year! Please join us in the
Humanities Building Rm 384 at 7pm.

February 14th Monday- Opportunity to meet one of the candidates for the new professor position in the
Comparative Literature department! Please join us from 3:15 – 3:45pm at the
Trapp Library.

February 16th Wednesday- Opportunity to meet one of the candidates for the new professor position in the

February 21th Monday- Opportunity to meet one of the candidates for the new professor position in the

March 9th Wednesday- Deadline to complete Blind Review Process for Portals.

March 19th - 27th - Spring Break!

March 30th Wednesday - Training Meeting for Portals Editors. Another great opportunity to be part of the
Portals team! At this point, all the articles for this year issue should be selected,
approved and ready to edit. Prior editing experience is welcome but not
necessary. Please join us in the Humanities Building Rm 384 at 7pm.

April 6th Wednesday- Prospective Officer Information Meeting. If you are interested in volunteering for the
position of President, VP of University Relations, or VP of Publications (ie the two chief
editor positions for Portals) for the 2005-2006 academic year, this is the meeting for
you! We will share our experiences over the past year, hand out job descriptions, letter
of intent forms and answer any questions you may have. Please join us in the
Humanities Building Rm 384 at 7pm.

April 20th Wednesday- Alumni Panel. Our alumni panel will discuss career choices for students planning to
terminate their formal education after their M.A. degree. This should be a lively and
informative discussion! Please join us in the Humanities Building Rm 384 at 7pm.

April 27th Wednesday Professor Claire Kramsch of UC Berkeley will be giving a lecture is to be entitled "The Multilingual Experience: Insightsfrom Language Memoirs" at 7pm.

May 13th Friday- Big End of the Academic Year Bash! We will be launching our new Portals website with this
year's issue of Portals and plan to party till none of our officers are still standing! Location
will be announced later in the semester, but don't forget to save the date!
