the art of japanese track bikes
Japanese Keirin Couture is based on the reletively recent emergence and subsequent explosion in popularity of Japanese track bikes. Originally discarded by Japanese Keirin racers, used Japanese Keirin track bikes became an inexpensive alternative form of transportation. As greater numbers of people began riding Japanese track bikes, riders began to personalize their individual bikes by building visually conceptualized custom track bikes with a particularly artistic edge. This website is devoted to those bikes and the community of riders that creates them.

Track bikes, in general, are a type of fixed-gear bike specially designed for track cycling in a velodrome. Unlike road bikes, used for road cycling, they lack multiple gears, having a single fixed gear ratio and no freewheeling mechanism. Although a track bike can be used on public roads, they generally, have no brakes.
