When I set out on this project I wanted to capture the glimpse into the mind
of a man, who thought a day of twisting and turning, diving and zooming in a
sky full of people who wanted to kill him, as fun. We had thousands of our
boys flying over Europe during WW2 and it took a special breed to think of
the job they had to do as fun. They enjoyed the test of man and machine,
despite the morbid overtones it so often took on. The world probably has
probably never seen another breed quite like them.
