Calls for Submissions and Contests

This is by no means a complete list, but we will try to add to it as time permits. As with any submission make sure you follow the guidelines. If you are unsure about the basics, check out a few pointers here.

The 2003 Lois Cranston Memorial Poetry Prize

March 1, 2003 - May 31, 2003

$250 plus publication and one volume

Finalists receive a volume as well and are noted on web-site.

$15 per entry made payable to CALYX

3 poems with a max of 6 pages total.

Do not put your name on the poem. Instead include cover letter with name, address, phone, e-mail, and titles. No simultaneous submissions, and only unpublished work. Include a SASE for notification, no manuscripts returned.

Notification of winner Sept. 30, 2003.

Five Fingers Review

Poetry/Fiction

$500 first prize and two $100 awards.

Theme: Shadows, Dark's double, and the Sinister hand.

Fiction: 5,000 word limit.

Poetry: 3 poems and a max of 10 pages.

Deadline: Postmarked June 1, 2003

$10 reading fee payable check or money order to Five Fingers Review.

No Fax, FedEX, UPS, or other overnight mail.

Winners announced end of Aug, 2003. All entries considered for publication.

No previously published works, simultaneous submissions OK, include SASE for notification, SAS postcard for receipt of entry, no manuscripts returned. More than one entry acceptable but must sent separately with another $10 fee.

Indiana Review

Reading Fee: $15 made payable to Indiana Review, includes a one year subscription

All entries are considered for publication and are considered anonymously. No more than 500 words, no more than 3 pieces. No previously published works, or works forthcoming elsewhere. Include cover letter with name, address, phone number, and titles of each piece. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable but the fee is nonrefundable if work is accepted elsewhere. Name should appear only ONLY on the cover letter. Manuscripts not returned. Include SASE for notification.

Pearl

2003 Pearl Poetry Prize

$1000 and Book publication

Judge: Fred Voss

Friends and Family of judge not allowed to submit. All submissions should have a title page with name, address, phone number, an acknowledgment page listing previously published poems, 48-64 pages of original poetry, and a SASE for reply or return of manuscript. Manuscripts should be unbound, typed, pages numbered, name on title page only. Simultaneous submissions should be noted.

$20 entry fee (Payable to Pearl) includes copy of winning book. Prize of $1000 and 25 copies.

May 1, 2003- July 15, 2003 (postmarked)

Winner announced first of next year.
