About Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a national honor society for students of history. Founded in 1921, the society has grown to encompass over 800 chapters in 50 states, more chapters than any other accredited honor society.

Phi Alpha Theta has as its primary purpose the recognition of exemplary work by college and university history majors. The organization is also a professional society whose mission is "to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians."
