Introduction
This lesson is about learning to use technology to express yourself
in a positive way via audio recording, posted on the Internet, and provide
useful and interesting content for your peers in the school community.
Goal & Situation
The
goal of this lesson is the teach you the production, project management and
technical skills needed to complete a student-produced Podcast. You
will work in pairs on a team of your peers creating a student radio show
as a medium of positive expression.
Audience & Purpose
The purpose of the lesson is to create a medium of self
expression and create audio content meaningful to you and your other
students at their school.
Steps of the Learning Process
- Work with a group
of fellow students to brainstorm appropriate subject matter ideas for
the Podcast.
- Work with a partner and divide up the interviews,
news casting, etc. among your partner groups so the production work is equally shared.
- Create the rough scripts for the Podcast.
- Record/Edit the Podcast using Apple's Garageband software
- Post audio files to Internet and RSS Feed for publication.
- Download Podcast from iTunes
Standards & Criteria for Success
You
will successfully complete the Podcasting experience if you can:
- Demonstrates basic computer skills and is able to complete Podcasting tasks after learning the recording/editing process from the teacher.
- Participate fully in all areas of the Podcast production process.
- Successfully complete their assigned portion of the Podcast.
- Continue to update and maintain the Podcast on a regular basis.
