Minutes of the Meeting: February 2, 2004
Officers Present: Wahiba Chair, Jorge Vilchez, Gabrielle Gomez, Rea Laccay, Christine Lipps, Bethany Bond, and Martha Jimenez

- FIRST SOCIAL EVENT-ICE SKATING
- Will be held at Yerba Buena in San Francisco from 7:00PM-9:15PM (officers be there by 6:45)
- $4 for members and $5 for guests
- Christine will bring in camera for the yearbook. She will also be making a big poster and some flyers to advertise the event
- Officers should pick up flyers in the OSPLD mailbox and help place them on bulletin boards all over campus
- NEWSLETTER
- Gabrielle will check into funding from Kinkos, Office Depot, OfficeMax, etc.
- She will also try to get newsletter done by February 11 to distribute at the ice skating social
- Look into a way to distribute to members through OSPLD
- Gabrielle will also write the induction article
- Newsletter will have:
- Officers welcome (all)
- Honorary member interview (Wahiba)
- Upcoming events section (being finalized)
- Induction article (Gabrielle)
- Encourage note to all members to write articles
- Start working on newsletter award due June 1st
- Have a newsletter per month, so 4 more for the semester
- YEARBOOK
- Martha will meet with Wahiba half hour every week to put together the yearbook
- A bi-weekly yearbook party will be planned to have officers help put it together
- REGIONAL CONFERENCE
- Although Reno Conference is during Spring Break, officers have decided that Northridge will be the best choice for the regional conference
- Conference will be from March 12-14
- Wahiba will start signing up for the conference
- Jorge will do more research on the best transportation for us to take
- WEBSITE
- Individual pictures of officers need to be taken and submitted to Ivan to put on the website
- FUNDRAISERS
- Officers have decided not to have a Valentine’s Day fundraiser because there’s not enough time to prepare
- Rea called local florists and candy shops for donations, but was unsuccessful since Valentine’s Day is one of their biggest holidays and could not afford to donate at this time
- Possible fundraisers for this semester
- See’s Candy sale (get 50% of profits)
- Restaurant Fundraiser (get a percentage of restaurant profit from people brought in by our organization)
- Golden State Warriors/Sharks snack bar (work their snack bar and get % of sale)
- Work with dorms for fundraiser (chance to promote and encourage students as well)
