Q. When and where are
your meetings?
A. Our meetings change every year, so check the Calendar or
e-mail CardBoardGamers@gmail.com
to find out! We also recommend you
join our mailing
list, to keep up-to-date on any changes.
Q. Do I
need to be a college student?
A. Not at all! Everyone is welcome, and we have quite a few off-campus
gamers who come and play every week.
Q. Is there any cost? Will I have
to do any work?
A. There is no cost for being a member of the Game Club. We don’t collect
and dues or fees, and we will never force you to work, come to an event, or
volunteer for something you don’t want to do.
Q. Can I leave anytime?
A. Of course. You’re welcome to stop coming to our meetings whenever you
want. We’ll miss you, but we understand if the Game Club just isn’t working
out for you.
Q. Do you play (my favorite game)?
A. Maybe. There are a lot of games out there, and we only have time for so
many. Your best bet is to send an e-mail to the mailing list, and
ask if anyone plays your favorite game. Chances are, someone plays – and if
not, maybe you should bring it to our next meeting and show us how much fun
it is!
Q. Games are for kids! Aren’t you
all a little immature?
A. There are games for all age groups, and we feel that gaming is an
important part of life, even after you grow up! Gaming allows you to meet
other people face-to-face, socialize, and get to know each other in a
relaxed atmosphere. Depending on the game, you may learn teamwork, tactical
thinking, memory, strategy, social skills, negotiation, foresight…the list
goes on and on.
Q. Where can I learn more about games?
We recommend websites such as boardgamegeek.com
(for board games) and RPG.net (for
role-playing games), and gamingreport.com
(for general gaming news). These
sites contain a wealth of information on nearly every game ever made.
